Our P&C

Welcome

The P&C (Parents & Citizens' Association) consists of parents/carers, teachers, and other interested parties who care about our children's education. Our broad role is to:

  • facilitate co-operation between parents and the school
  • foster opportunities for parent participation in the school in a wide range of activities
  • encourage parent input on issues, including the curriculum and other education areas, and maintain an open dialogue with the school.

In short, the P&C provides parents/carers with a forum to make a real difference to their children's educational outcomes.

The P&C also provides the school with much needed additional resources through our various fundraising activities.

P&C activities at the school include, but are not limited to:

  • Tuckshop
  • Second-hand Uniform Shop
  • Annual Sponsored Fundraiser (Colour Run in 2023)
  • Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Events
  • School Discos and Movie Night
  • Parent/Carer Social Nights

The opportunities for involvement through the P&C are endless and are limited only by the time that parents/carers can commit.

You can get in contact with the P&C by emailing the president at admin@wpspandc.org.au.

What we offer

P&C Meetings are held on the third Monday of every month during term time, 6-8pm, in the flexible learning area next to the school office. All parents/carers are welcome to attend.

The P&C at Waverley Public School contributes to funding for facilities, resources and equipment to improve the teaching and learning environment. Taking part is a great way for parents and carers to get to know others and be actively involved in the life of the school.

Fundraising is as successful as the amount of time and energy parents and carers are willing to commit. Volunteering on events and activities directly impacts the school and enhances the learning and physical environments.

The P&C encourages all parents and carers to be involved in some way in volunteering. There are ample options, ranging from coordinating an event to helping at the BBQ on Markets day. If you are interested in getting involved in our fundraising activities, please email admin@wpspandc.org.au. We look forward to hearing from you!

Since 2016, the P&C has contributed significant funds, enabling the school to:

  • purchase hundreds of new books and a range of musical instruments and sports equipment
  • purchase interactive whiteboards for classrooms
  • purchase iPads & laptops
  • purchase robotics for all ages within the school
  • purchase PSSA sports uniforms
  • install sound system
  • install air-conditioning
  • install solar panels
  • purchase flexible furniture for the school library, classrooms and flexible learning space.

In 2022/2023, our major fundraising activities included the Tuckshop, Colour Run and Parent Socials. The P&C office bearers and members regularly discuss the best ways to assign funds to improve our school with the school executive.

Waverley Public School's P&C-run tuckshop provides lunch and recess to the children and staff on Wednesdays throughout the year and lunch on Fridays.

About our tuckshop

Our tuckshop is an integral part of school life, promoting healthy eating habits. We provide nutritious foods and drinks at reasonable prices. All surplus funds are paid into the P&C general account to provide facilities, resources and equipment for the benefit of students.

Our coordinators would love to see as many parents and carers volunteer in the tuckshop as possible. Many hands make light work, and even helping out one morning a term makes a difference. Volunteering at the tuckshop is a great way to meet other parents and do your bit to keep the tuckshop viable. Plus, kids enjoy seeing mum, dad or a grandparent helping out. If you’d like to get involved, please email tuckshop@wpspandc.org.au. We look forward to hearing from you!
