Learning in and beyond the classroom

Students' perspectives

Our students in the inaugural STEM+ enrichment class have had a fantastic and exciting start to the year. Some of the students in the 2026 class spoke about their learning experiences part way through Term 1.

Learning in the classroom

Our inaugural STEM+ class has had an exciting start to the year. Miss Mahon, our expert HPGE teacher has challenged and engaged the students, providing an enriched and extended curriculum throughout the week. On Tuesdays, Mr Deasey, a high school science teacher has facilitated opportunities for the students to explore STEM concepts by investigating real-world problems and designing creative solutions.

The approach to learning is influenced by the nine adjustment tools (complexity, challenge, choice, abstraction, creative and critical thinking, higher order thinking, pace, authenticity, and learning environment) which support the learning needs of high potential and gifted learners.

Every day, the students are immersed in rigorous and engaging learning experiences across all subjects. From identifying bias in scientific research, to exploring grammar through Greek mythology, to designing wearable AI devices, the students are encouraged to explore and excel in diverse learning areas.

The transition for children joining the school has been seamless, supported by a welcoming community and initiatives that ensure every child feels confident and excited about their learning journey. This sets a strong foundation for a year full of discovery and growth in the STEM+ program.
